Carla Ann Martinez

M.D.

Dr. Carla Ann Martinez is a Maternal–Fetal Medicine specialist with more than 16 years of experience caring for patients with high-risk pregnancies. Raised in Belen, New Mexico, she is proud to serve families in her home state with advanced, compassionate, and personalized care.

Dr. Martinez earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, TX, followed by a fellowship in Maternal–Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas at Houston, where she received comprehensive training in managing complex maternal and fetal conditions. She is double board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal–Fetal Medicine.

Before joining Perinatal Associates of New Mexico in 2023, Dr. Martinez spent more than a decade in academic medicine, where she earned national teaching awards for her contributions to resident and medical student education. Her background in teaching strengthens her commitment to clear communication, patient education, and collaborative, team-based care.

Guided by a care philosophy rooted in patient-centered, evidence-based, and compassionate high-risk pregnancy care, Dr. Martinez works closely with patients and families to ensure they feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their pregnancy journey. Her clinical interests include prenatal diagnosis, maternal medical complications, fetal ultrasound, and multidisciplinary coordination to optimize outcomes for both mother and baby.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Martinez enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and caring for her beloved dogs.
